Google Ads Management: Why Most Campaigns Underperform and How to Fix Them
The median Google Ads ROAS for B2B services is 1.8–2.2×. Revino's client average is 4.2×. The difference is not luck or budget — it's methodology, structure, and relentless weekly optimisation.
The Four Most Common Google Ads Mistakes
1. Broad match keywords burning budget. Running "AI automation" on broad match means Google serves your ad to searches like "what is automation" and "AI in movies." Tight match type discipline — exact match for core commercial terms, phrase match for variations — is the single biggest lever for reducing wasted spend.
2. Single landing page for all ad groups. A user clicking "Google Ads management for SaaS" should land on a page specifically about Google Ads for SaaS companies, not a generic homepage. Message-match between ad copy and landing page is the primary driver of Quality Score — and Quality Score directly determines your cost per click. Higher Quality Score = lower CPC = more leads for the same budget.
3. Tracking only clicks, not revenue. Most accounts track form fills and call "conversion." But a form fill from someone searching "what is Google Ads" is worth nothing. Proper conversion tracking in GA4 — importing offline conversions from your CRM, tracking actual revenue not just form submissions, and using data-driven attribution rather than last-click — is what separates agencies that deliver ROAS from those that report impressions.
4. Setting and forgetting. Google's machine learning bidding algorithms require signal — and the signal is your conversion data. If you're not checking search term reports weekly to add negative keywords, testing new ad copy every 3–4 weeks, and adjusting bid strategies based on device/time/location performance data, your campaign degrades while competitors who are optimising actively gain share.
How Revino's Google Ads Methodology Works
Account architecture: We structure campaigns around tightly themed ad groups (typically 10–20 keywords per group, all closely related) with dedicated landing pages for each theme. This maximises Quality Score, minimises wasted spend, and makes optimisation data actionable rather than muddled.
Keyword strategy: We start with commercial intent long-tail keywords (lower competition, lower CPC, higher conversion intent) and expand to broader terms as conversion data accumulates and bid optimisation matures. Keywords targeting competitor brand terms are evaluated separately with careful messaging strategy.
Ad copy: We write 3–5 ad copy variations per ad group, testing different value propositions, CTAs, and social proof elements. Copy that references specific customer outcomes ("187% organic traffic increase") consistently outperforms generic feature-led copy.
Conversion tracking: Every campaign includes GA4 setup, goal configuration, CRM conversion import (linking closed deals back to the originating keyword), and GA4 audience creation for remarketing. We only report on revenue-impact metrics, never vanity metrics.
